294 NOVA ISTRA Literary, Art and Cultural Journal Zeitschrift für Literatur, Kunst und Kultur Rivista di letteratura, arte e cultura Pula, Croatia / Kroatien / Croazia, No. 1-2/2025 Summary With this issue, we enter the 30th year of our journal’s publication – a milestone we regard as a great success, far exceeding any expectations we might have had when we launched it in the early summer of 1996. Its longevity and recognition, both within Croatia and internationally, represent for us a responsibility to future generations of writers, contributors, and above all, readers. This extensive double issue includes our regular sections, as well as some occasional ones. We begin with the section on contemporary literature, which presents new prose and poetry by Croatian authors of various generations and diverse poetics. The central section is dedicated to the theme„Literature and Philosophy, Philosophy and Literature“. The essays and studies on this subject are the result of a symposium of the same name held during the 21st Pula Essay Days in October 2023. The contributors are prominent writers, philosophers, theorists of culture and art, publicists, historians, and university professors. The translation section is devoted to the recently published Italian rendition of the early poetry collection Kolajna (translated as Collana; engl. Necklace) by Tin Ujević (1891 – 1955), one of the greatest Croatian poets of all time – and not just of the 20th century – who remains relatively unknown to Italian readers and the Italian cultural sphere. This section also includes translations of contemporary German poetry. The regional section features a commemorative and synthetic article on the life and work of Tone Peruško (1905 – 1967) – educator, scholar, and writer – on the anniversary of his birth. Peruško, born near Pula, was a significant intellectual figure in both the national Croatian and local Istrian contexts. Also included is a historical overview of the small town of Vodice in northern Istria. The final section, as usual, offers critical reviews of recent publications, this time focusing on Croatian literature, visual arts, music history, and contemporary Czech literature. Ed.
